Sustainable cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao breeding activities have been implemented on global scale to fulfill the increased world cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao consumption. Through extensive research activities, several countries have succeeded in the invention of new superior cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao varieties through addition of superior genetic traits  by way of varieties cross-breeding, genetic engineering, or  the latest genome-editing modification techniques. In Indonesia, research activities for the development of superior cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao varieties have long been implemented. Recorded several new breeds of cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao breeding with superior properties have been removed by the government and have been utilized by farmers.

Plants occupy the main position and play an important role for efforts to increase cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao productivity in Indonesia. The introduction of national plant breeding technology has a positive impact on the implementation of other studies which also aim to develop new improved cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao varieties by utilizing the availability of local germplasm. cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao plant breeding with emphasis on the use of molecular breeding technology which is a recently used molecular approach. molecular breeding techniques have been found to be able to obtain high-yielding cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao cultivars, biotic stress-resistant, abiotic stress-resistant, quality seeds, and physiologically good.

The need for cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao productivity improvement as an effort to realize rice self-sufficiency is still carried out both from economic and cultivation aspect. The high level of cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao biodiversity in the form of germplasm in Indonesia is one of the advantages to support the development of cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao research in Indonesia. The high genetic resources of these germplasm have the potential to continue to be explored and exploited to produce superior cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao varieties in Indonesia especially through molecular biology approach to accelerate the production of new varieties. On the other hand, the ability and capacity of Indonesian researchers in terms of molecular biology and plant breeding is no doubt in particular the ability to produces new superior varieties. In an effort to develop superior cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao varieties that are able to answer the cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao problem, we hold International seminar and workshop of cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao current breeding technology. As a forum for exchange of information for all parties or observers who move for the development of cassava, sugarcane, rice, coffee and cacao.
